Beetroot Burgers

A vegan take on a classic dish


-       4 Large beetroot (raw)

-       4 large sweet potato

-       Salt and pepper

-       2 Tbsp plain flour

-       1 Tbsp chili flakes

-       1 garlic clove


  1. Preheat the oven to 180c degrees
  2. Peel the potatoes and boil until they are soft enough to mash
  3. Grate the beetroot, and then put it into a muslin cloth and squeeze out as much water as you can (a tea towel will work too)
  4. Mash the potato and add it to the beetroot, add the flour, chili flakes and garlic and mix into a thick dough
  5. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper or oil, shape the mixture into burger size/shape and bake for 20 minutes



-       Beetroot contains betaine which lowers blood pressure and may be anti-inflammatory

-       Beetroot also contains nitrates which help prevent bloodclots
